Bolts, rolled out into wire span, brace, loop and hover in space, joyfully escaping their duty to hold things in place. This project is grounded in the idea of “affordances”, the action possibilities an object offers depending on context and bodily relation to it. As a metalworker I perceive a bolt not only as a fastener, but as material with latent potential. Form is determined by gravity, tension and the specific resistance of the material. Slight changes in position or subtle twists can lead to drastic changes of the composition.
